Hello reader,

Almost every week, my Mom sends me an AI-generated video on Instagram. These used to be videos of famous people made to say something ridiculous. Lately, the videos are of AI dogs doing something crazy. I mean, I know dogs can wreak havoc, but not this kind.

I always tell her that these videos are AI. She doesn’t seem to mind, as long as they are entertaining. The reality though is it’s becoming increasingly difficult to identify what is fake and what isn’t, and that’s what these platforms’ true aim is.

“[Sora 2] is the first AI video model that can fool young people… previous models can only fool Gen X or older generations,” someone told my colleague Glenn in his story on AI video generator PixVerse, which is one of our Top AI Reads for this week.

Sora 2 is the latest iteration of OpenAI’s video generation platform. The person Glenn was speaking to said he uses the platform to create marketing videos.

PixVerse says it aims to compete against giants like Sora by delivering not just quality AI generated videos, but doing it efficiently. The company is already working on a “real-time AI video generation” feature.

In a second story by Glenn, he mapped out all the Asian startups that are cashing in on the AI video boom – everything from building AI-enabled video editing platforms to AI video generation platforms like PixVerse.

All these stories tell me that arguments over whether a video is real will only multiply.
