According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple has dropped a lawsuit on Korean manufacturer and competitor Samsung, asserting that the Galaxy Series copies the look and feel of the iPhone and iPad:
Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.
Samsung, however, appears ready to defend itself:
Samsung’s development of core technologies and strengthening our intellectual property portfolio are keys to our continued success. . . Samsung will respond actively to this legal action taken against us through appropriate legal measures to protect our intellectual property.
It’s worth noting here that besides manufacturing its own consumer products that Samsung is also a major component supplier to other computer makers including Apple.
We reported last night that Samsung is reportedly selling off its hard disk drive business because it’s losing money. It seems that the past 24 hours have not held much good news for the Korean manufacturer.
