Apeiron collects food and agricultural waste, including used cooking oil, tallow, and palm oil mill effluent, and converts them into biodiesel.
The new capital will go toward boosting the company’s operations, adding more collection points, and upgrading processing plants. Currently, the Singapore-based firm runs nine collection warehouses and two refineries in Asia.
Apeiron will also leverage Proterra Investment’s food and agricultural investment management expertise and connections to boost growth.
Founded in 2007 by Chris Chen and Richard Huang, Apeiron has collected more than 500 million liters of food waste for conversion, offsetting an estimated 1.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions.
The current fundraise follows the company’s equity financing round, which it raised from Mitsui Chemicals in August 2022. In May, Apeiron also received a green loan from HSBC under the bank’s Enterprise Financing Scheme.
