Hello Malaysia!
We all know that digital technologies are the lifeblood of today’s smart cities. They are applied widely in industry and society from information and communications technology(ICT) to the Internet of Things(IoT), in which objects are connected to the internet. The aspiration to kickstart technology-led developments is there, but is Kuala Lumpur ready to make it happen?
The TIA Kuala Lumpur city chapter committee, along with our partners, DOJO KL and Nation Building School, has handpicked smart cities experts with in-depth experience and insights on initiatives in Malaysia and abroad. You will learn the smart cities initiatives carried out locally, challenges faced and benefits enjoyed by other smart cities. By understanding the intricacies of smart cities better, we hope to help startups in Malaysia immerse themselves in deep tech.
To cultivate a better discussion, we have assembled an insightful panel which includes:
Dr Lau Cher Han – Dr Lau is a data scientist and consultant in data science, machine learning and big data. He is currently the chief data scientist at iStream 360 and Johor state advisor for smart cities and big data alternatives, and previously held a similar position in Selangor. His work has involved major companies and government agencies across Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan and other ASEAN countries.
Jeremy Lee – Jeremy is the CEO of Social Ant, which set up Qlue in Southeast Asia. Qlue is a social platform that allows citizens’ voices to be heard, aggregating Big Data for companies and governments alike. Jeremy also has experience working for smart cities initiatives in Jakarta.
Warren Chan – Warren has been at the forefront of deploying technology to solve an age-old Kuala Lumpur problem – parking. He is the co-founder of ParkEasy. No stranger to the entrepreneurial landscape, he was leading Social Enterprise Alliance(SEA) before it was absorbed into IM4U and has been a guest speaker at numerous entrepreneurial forums.
