Apple has officially rolled out Apple Pay in Vietnam, enabling users there to pay for goods and services with their Apple devices.
This applies to retail stores, online platforms, and apps. Some retailers that accept Apple Pay are Adidas, Decathlon, FPT Shop, Hasaki, McDonald’s, and Starbucks.
In a statement, Apple Pay said it now works with credit and debit cards from six major banks in Vietnam: ACB, MB, Sacombank, Techcombank, Vietcombank, and VPBank. Customers can also register for online debit cards through some banks’ apps and add them to Apple Pay instantly.
VNLife has also enabled Apple Pay on both its online payment gateway and offline smart point-of-sale terminals. VNLife is the owner of VNPay, one of the largest payment services providers in Vietnam, with over 400,000 merchants in its ecosystem.
Apple opened its online store in Vietnam in May, signaling the growing importance of emerging markets.
In April, the company opened its first flagship store in India in Mumbai, followed by a branch in Delhi.
While Apple reported its third consecutive quarter of declining sales, the company registered an 8% increase in revenue in China and record iPhone sales in India. The tech giant is also looking into a potential push into Malaysia.
