Alipay operator Ant Group and DFS Group, a Hong-Kong based travel retailer of luxury goods, have partnered for payments and marketing digitalization across the latter’s network of 36 stores in 15 markets and 12 online stores in four markets.
Alipay+ will also be integrated as a payment option for better foreign exchange rates and cross-border payment acceptance from mobile wallets.
The partner firms include KakaoPay from Korea, Touch ‘n Go eWallet from Malaysia, and TrueMoney from Thailand.
DFS has also launched the Alipay+ D-store on the Alipay app, allowing customers from China to reserve items to collect in-store or have them delivered to the customers’ homes.
To increase the visibility of DFS, the apps of Alipay and partner wallets will also give shoppers targeted rewards and exclusive offers, among others.
Ant Group and DFS have collaborated since 2014, when they enabled Alipay payments at Hong Kong stores. In the first half of this year alone, purchases at DFS stores by Alipay users increased 3x compared to 2022, according to a statement.
This year, Ant Group has been making moves to expand internationally. The Alibaba affiliate entered Australia, announced partnerships in Thailand, and became integrated into all payment systems at 7-Eleven stores in Malaysia.
