Before joining the company, he was a General Manager for Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure Solutions Business in Asia.
Based in Singapore, Derrick’s career in fintech and cloud computing stretches over 25 years, having held roles at telecom firms like Orange Business Services and Singtel, as well as cloud service providers like Citrix and Cisco Systems.
In his new role, Loi will lead the Chinese fintech giant’s digital technology business group, focusing on the productization, localization, and commercialization of fintech solutions and services.
He will work on three main fintech areas: blockchain-enabled capabilities, end-to-end super-app development, and digital trust solutions.
Ant Group has been strengthening its position in the wider region. It recently became a majority shareholder in Singapore-based payments platform 2C2P, striking a deal to boost the adoption of digital payments in Southeast Asia.
The company also appointed Jia Hang as regional general manager for Southeast Asia, aiming to bolster its talent and better support businesses in the region.
