Ant appoints new Southeast Asia general manager
Ant Group, the fintech arm of Alibaba, has appointed Jia Hang as the regional general manager for Southeast Asia. The role was created by the firm to strengthen talent and better support businesses in the region, it said in a statement.

Joining Ant Group in 2015, Hang’s recent responsibilities included managing international B2B payment platform WorldFirst. Before that, he was an executive at China-based financial company UnionPay.
In a statement, the company said that Hang will oversee cross-border mobile payment and marketing solution Alipay+. He will also support the 10×1000 Tech for Inclusion program, which aims to train 1,000 talents in the digital and fintech sector in the region for the next 10 years.

Last year, Ant Group was directed by China’s central bank to reform the unfair competition practices of its payments business and restructure its subsidiaries. The move followed the government’s increased scrutiny of Alibaba.
