EFishery employee denies entire company commits fraud

An eFishery employee has taken to LinkedIn to clarify allegations that the entire agritech company is committing fraud.

Elsa Vinietta, eFishery’s product manager, wrote on her profile on January 22 that its IoT, AI, and apps were real products, not prototypes.

“Farmers are actually using them,” Vinietta wrote in Indonesian, adding that the team was willing to prove their usability through live demos and on-site visits.

“Not all employees are aware of or involved in fraud. I don’t know the exact number, but using common sense, surely more employees are not involved than those who are,” she said.

“When it comes to financial matters, most teams are not even involved in transactions,” she added.

Vinietta also clarified that all core aspects of the company were developed in-house, instead of being outsourced or white-labeled.

This comes as eFishery is facing investigations for allegedly inflating revenue by almost US$600 million for its September 2024 results. The company also claimed it operated over 400,000 fish feeders, while investigators suggested the number was closer to 24,000.

The news first broke in December 2024 when DealStreetAsia reported that co-founders Gibran Huzaifah and Chrisna Aditya were suspended due to allegations of financial irregularities.

“Let’s learn from eFishery. Let’s take the mistakes as lessons to ensure they are not repeated,” Vinietta wrote. “Integrity should always come first, and as a company, eFishery has failed in that aspect.”
