Global ecommerce giant Amazon has launched a buy now, pay later option for its Singapore-based customers through a partnership with Atome.
Amazon Singapore launched in 2019 and attracted over 4.9 million visits in the first quarter of 2022, trailing behind local favorites Shopee and Lazada.
Since being established in 2017 by Chun Dong Chau, Dong Shou, and Jefferson Chen, Singapore-headquartered Atome has partnered with over 15,000 online and offline retailers across Southeast Asia, including Zalora, Zara, Shein, Sephora, Agoda, and Marks & Spencer.
Atome is a subsidiary of Advance Intelligence Group, which also manages artificial intelligence solutions enabler Advance.ai and ecommerce merchant services platform Ginee. The umbrella firm raised US$80 million last month, bringing its total fund raised to US$700 million.
Atome itself, which is available in six Southeast Asian countries along with Hong Kong and China, last raised US$25 million in October 2022 from its parent company.
