Amazon leads $575m series G round in food delivery app Deliveroo

London-based food delivery app Deliveroo said it has raised US$575 million in a series G funding round led by Amazon.

Deliveroo said it would use proceeds from the round to hire more engineers in London, cover more locations, and set up delivery-only kitchens, among others.

Existing investors, including US-based asset managers T. Rowe Price, Fidelity Management and Research Company, and Greenoaks Capital, also participated in the round, bringing the total amount raised to US$1.53 billion.

Founded in 2013, the company delivers food to customers in more than 500 towns and cities across 14 markets, according to a media statement.
