Allianz X, Go-Ventures back African ride-hailing app

Allianz X, the investment arm of German insurer Allianz Group, and Go-Jek venture capital unit Go-Ventures led the series B funding round of SafeBoda, a Uganda-based ride-hailing platform.

The amount SafeBoda raised from the round was not specified.

According to The Guardian, the African ride-hailing company raised more than US$1 million from Shell Foundation, Global Innovation Fund, Development Innovation Ventures, and a private tech company in 2016.
