Agate Jogja Releases 23rd Titok Game Title, This Time Inspired by Russian Meteor

titok meteor

Indonesian game developer Agate Jogja, which is part of Agate Alliance, announced today that the company has released its twenty-third Titok game title called Titok: Menerjang Meteor (meaning “charging against meteors”). This latest Flash-based game was inspired by the meteor that hit Russia last month.

Just like the other 22 titles in the Titok game series, the gameplay is very simple. This time players need to evade the meteor showers with their mouse while protagonist Titok runs through the streets picking up candy bars and coins. I personally find picking up coins while running for your life a bit hilarious. I think the game has very nice background music too.

The numerous Titok game series are often inspired topical real-world events. Take for example Titok’s most popular game, where the gamer controls a guard who gets to kick a lady ghost as far as possible. That scene is very similar to the incident in which an Indonesian security guard kicked a ‘lady ghost’ back in late 2011. The thing is, it wasn’t actually a lady ghost, but just a girl playing a prank. It made national headlines, and Agate Jogja took advantage of that furore by making a game out of it.

So far, all 23 Titok games have been played over 340,000 times. That’s not bad. Agate Jogja seems to earn money from advertisements. You can check Titok’s 23 game titles here, and its latest meteor shower game here.

Agate Alliance

Agate Alliance is made up of Agate Studio in Bandung, Agate Jogja, Agate Simfonia, and Agate Academy. The Agate team in Bandung and Yogyakarta have different teams and founders, but they share the same vision: to make the world a happier place.

Meanwhile, Agate Simfonia is the one that develops music for Agate’s game titles, including the one for Titok. Agate Academy focuses on gaming education like organizing workshops and seminars about game development.

Agate Jogja is now working to release its flagship game title this year called MayaPadha. The game is built for mobile web browsers and lets players build their kingdom by combining heroes from three different species – human, giant, and magical beings. The team hopes to launch the game this month.
