Aerodyne launches JV to offer drone-based enterprise solutions in Thailand

Malaysian drone startup Aerodyne has partnered with AI and Robotics Ventures (ARV), a subsidiary of petroleum major PTT Exploration and Production, and IT solutions firm Digital Creation (DC) to provide drone-based enterprise solutions across Thailand.

Called AeroSky, the venture will leverage Aerodyne-integrated drone and software-as-a-service solutions as well as DC’s machine learning and monitoring technologies to provide services to clients in the telco, electricity, oil and gas, and other infrastructure-led industries.

The new venture’s offering will allow clients to inspect and monitor infrastructure better and at lower costs.

Aerodyne holds a 34% participating interest in AeroSky while ARV and DC hold 33% each. AeroSky services are now available to business customers across industries in Thailand, according to a statement.

Aerodyne founder and group CEO Kamarul Muhamed noted that Thailand still has an infrastructure deficit while having a need for infrastructure owners to sustain their assets. “And this is where our joint venture AeroSky will provide asset management and inspection solutions that are faster, more cost-efficient, and in many ways safer,” he added.

The partnership comes after Aerodyne raised an undisclosed amount of funding to help bankroll its expansion in China, India, and Japan. Investors in the round include Chinese VC firm North Summit Capital, India-based investment company Arc Ventures, and Japan’s Leave a Nest.
