Temasek joins $22m round of Singapore plant-based meat maker

Growthwell Foods, a Singapore-based manufacturer of alternative meat and seafood, has raised US$22 million in its latest round of funding.

• The company will use the latest investment to accelerate its expansion plans within Southeast Asia and develop its products.
• Growthwell said it is also ramping up its production and distribution capacity through an end-to-end technology center.
• In 2020, the company raised US$8 million in a funding round led by Temasek to help it conduct research and development of plant proteins.
• Established in 1989, Growthwell is a one-stop, meat-free solutions provider for food and beverage organizations. It offers plant-based food alternatives as well as logistics support and customer service.
• The fundraise follows the establishment of the world’s first commercial cultured meat facility in Singapore by Esco Aster, a contract development and manufacturing firm.
