CreditVidya
Mumbai-based CreditVidya, which claims to analyze over 10,000 data points to figure out whether to lend to someone without a credit score, announced a US$2 million series A round from Kalaari Capital.
Founded by Abhishek Agarwal and Rajiv Raj, CreditVidya looks at several other factors besides a credit rating – down to how people top off their phones – to determine the potential risk involved with a client. Its target audience is the 800 million Indians who can’t use banks. The service is used by IDFC Bank, Tata Capital, and Bajaj Finserv.
Other startups using big data to help generate credit ratings include Inventure, Branch, and Lenddo.
ListUp
Ecommerce app for used goods ListUp announced it has raised US$500,000 in funding led by Kae Capital as well as FreeCharge chairman Kunal Shah and Sandeep Tandon of Tandon Group. As part of the round, Sarah Mirchandani, Kae Capital founder, will be joining ListUp’s board.
Founded by Sumit Gupta, Pulkit Gupta, and Saurabh Jain, ListUp was launched in January 2016. People can post items that they want to sell to buyers on the app. It verifies its users and claims the average active user spends 15 minutes a day using the app, with active sellers spending 30 minutes a day. An added location component lets people know who is selling closest to them. ListUp is available on Google Play and for iOS. It is based in Mumbai.
Last year, Quikr, an Indian classifieds site, reached unicorn status.
