6 rising startups in India – June 23, 2016

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) startups rule the school today, with a logistics startup bringing in funding in the millions. An e-invoicing startup and artificial intelligence company join club SaaS on the list, while a subscription tutoring site undergoes an acquisition. The digital marketing space for restaurants also sees an acquisition, and an edtech startup that wants to help teachers communicate better with their students’ parents rounds out our list of startups reaching for the stars.

FarEye

Tracking vehicles just got a little bit easier. FarEye, a Delhi-based logistics startup that helps employers track their fleets, has secured US$3.5 million in series A funding from Saif Partners. The funding will be put toward expansion into new markets.

Established in 2013 by Kushal Nahata, Gaurav Srivastava, and Gautam Kumar, FarEye uses a cloud-based SaaS mobile platform to help employees coordinate in transit, and help with job execution and customer requests. Specifically, its founders wanted to address the difficulties in last-mile delivery.

It has over 75 clients across India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East that include Blue Dart, Bajaj Capital, Hitachi, Zalora, and Sephora.

SpiderG

Pune-based e-invoicing tech provider SpiderG has raised seed funding from Rahul Kirloskar, Fusion Tech Ventures, Pravin Dongre, and Adi Sarvanan.

Rahul is the executive chairman of Kirloskar Pneumatic Company. Adi is the founder and president of Allsec Technologies.

Founded in 2015 by Ashwani Rathore and Harshal Ingale, SpiderG, owned by Gladiris Technologies, is an SaaS product that offers insight on transactions for small and medium-sized businesses. It aims to organize communication as well, in the hopes of enabling networks to form between and within companies.

“The way Facebook has done for individuals, we intend to the same for businesses,” said CEO Ashwani in a statement.

SpiderG, available on Android claims to serve around 350 businesses and wants to up that number to 20,000 within the next year.

India’s angels have gotten artificial with their next investment, with Gurgaon-based AI startup Staqu Technologies raising an undisclosed amount of funding from the Indian Angel Network (IAN).
