6 Final Fantasy games you never knew you wanted

The other day I posted an article about how the new Theatrhythm game may get an international release, and I questioned which genre the Final Fantasy (FF) series will tackle next. Final Fantasy is obviously best known for their RPGs but they have also dabbled in action games, as seen in Dissidia Final Fantasy, and rhythm games, as seen in Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call. What will they do next?

With such a rich pool of beloved characters, deep and beautiful worlds, and a fan base bigger than most countries, you’d think Square Enix would be pimping out the FF universe to different genres all the time.

So it got me thinking, “If the fans could take these characters and worlds, what spin off games would they make?” In the end I came up with six Final Fantasy games that I believe fans are going to want to see.

Final Kart Player Select

Fantasy Kart Racer (Racer)

Ok this is a given. I believe if you have enough successful titles, you are legally obligated to make a kart racing game featuring your characters. If Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, and Angry Birds can all get kart racing games, why not Final Fantasy?

This game could go one of two ways. You could make the FF crew cute chibi characters, like in Theatrhythm, and have a zany kart racer. Or you could make the game more realistic and have the characters casting spells, swinging swords, or even shooting guns as they zoomed across the track on motorcycles.

Think about it, each game already introduces some kind of vehicle. Whether it be chocobos, airships, motorcycles, or even snowmobiles, there is always something to ride in an FF game. It’s high time we took these characters and gave them some kind of racing game.

Final Fantasy Warriors

Final Fantasy Warriors (Hack and Slash)

With the somewhat recent announcement of Hyrule Warriors, is it too much to ask for a similar game from the Final Fantasy universe? Imagine running around as Cloud, slicing through fiends left and right, and then all of a sudden Sephiroth appears for a Dynasty Warriors-esque duel. This would be epic!

There could be different campaigns from the various worlds. Each character would have their own unique skill sets and limit breaks. I want this game so bad. Please, Square Enix! Pretty please!
