Hello reader,
Grab’s latest earnings suggest that its super-app strategy is finally clicking.
The company reported net profit of US$252 million for Q2 2026, more than 6x higher than the US$35 million it posted a year earlier.
Revenue climbed 22% year on year to US$997 million, with growth spread across deliveries, mobility, and financial services.
These three major cogs in the Grab growth machine appear to be in tune that quarter, with the firm hitting a record 54 million monthly transacting users during the period.
The standout segment was financial services, where revenue jumped 59% to US$134 million. Moreover, combined deposits across GXS Bank, GXBank, and Superbank reached US$2.5 billion.
On competition, Grab co-founder and CEO Tan brushes off questions about Uber’s rumored bid for Delivery Hero’s Foodpanda business, noting that Uber remains contractually barred from competing with Grab in its core markets for a year after divesting its stake.
He also points out that Grab’s edge lies in “structural advantages that are hard to disrupt.” Of course, it has been implementing the super-app strategy that brought it to net profit. And now, its digibanks are starting to pull their weight.
You can check out this featured chart, which puts three years of Grab’s earnings into perspective.
Another financial update you can sink your teeth into is that of StashAway. My colleague Melissa spoke with CEO Michele Ferrario, who shared more details on how the digital wealth platform logged a 42% jump in its revenue for the first half of 2026.
