Should startup founders follow the lead of Rahul Yadav and give some of their shares to employees?

Great to hear that Housing CEO Rahul Yadav distributed his shares with Housing employees. And now he has gone a step ahead by challenging other founders to share their stocks with staff as well.

Half the world made fun of Rahul – called him mad for using bad language with investors and what not – but I think he had made a great point this time. Has any other founder done what he dared to do – shared good fortune with employees?

Zomato and Ola are startup superstars of India. Media says Zomato raised  something like $164 million funding in total. And Olacabs close to $700 million – valued at around $2 billion!!! All its founders and investors are multi-billionaires and they all make noises in the media about being fair to employees, drivers, and blah blah.

Here’s your call to be FAIR. Answer it!

Startups are hitting billion dollar valuations – or at least hundreds of millions. Founders and investors are getting super rich. But what about employees who give their blood, sweat and toil to the company? Good going, Rahul Yadav! Salute!
