After 48 hours, sales figures of Pokemon X and Y are in. Nintendo just announced that it has sold over four million copies of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. That’s equivalent to selling over 83,000 units of Pokemon X and/or Pokemon Y every 60 minutes.
In the press release, Nintendo also revealed that Pokemon X and Y are the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time, breaking Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2’s record by over 70 percent.
Since the first Pokemon game was launched in 2002, Nintendo said over 10 million units were sold so far. Apparently, Pokemon X and Y (which we reviewed and rated very highly) accounted for 40 percent of all Nintendo’s Pokemon video game sales.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said:
The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself.
After witnessing hundreds of Pokemon fans gathered for last weekend’s Pokemon X and Y launch in Singapore, we can at least confirmed that the Pokemon fever exists our sunny island.
