Mech Mocha
Bangalore-based mobile gaming firm Mech Mocha put up its cards today, gaining US$1 million in seed funding from Blume Ventures and ecommerce company Flipkart.
Founded by Arpita Kapoor and Mohit Rangaraju in 2014, the startup will put the funds to use nearly doubling its current team from 11 members to 20 in the next six months. It will also continue to build games and develop a back-end method for its games that will implement social and payment mechanisms.
The company is already looking to next year, hoping to raise its series A round by mid-March. Its founders have their eyes on the hyperlocal market scene in India, looking to small cities and towns to power its user base.
MobieFit
Mobile fitness app MobieFit received US$1 million in investment from Medi Assist India. Medi Assist India is a healthcare services provider that deals in medical insurance.
The investment begins a strategic partnership that will ideally strengthen MobieFit’s presence in the mobile app-based fitness world. Medi Assist has over a decade’s experience with fitness programs and launched its first health app, a hospital booking management system, in 2013.
MobieFit, co-founded by Gourav Jaswall and Indian actress Gul Panag, launched its first product in February, a voice-assisted app that helps coach users in running. The startup is based in Goa.
SBricks
Remember those scenes from Disney movies where the princess gets up and little animals help her do all of the housework? For those of us who can only dream of such power, get excited, because home cleaning and laundry startup SBricks acquired facility services company Melway for an undisclosed amount yesterday. Both companies are located in Hyderabad.
With Melway under its belt, SBricks hopes to launch its facility management services soon, as well as grow its presence in the world of home cleaning services. It was founded just this year by Nithin Reddy and works with private residences as well as theater chains. The startup hopes to double its client base in the next six months.
On-demand home services in India are growing in popularity, with maintenance startup EasyFix and home services company DoorMint gaining funding in the past six months.
Doctor Insta
Late yesterday, healthcare consultation startup Doctor Insta announced its pre-series A funding totaling US$500,000 from angel investor Rishi Parti and BrahmaX Ventures, a US-based venture capital firm.
Co-founded by Amit Munjal, Doctor Insta allows users to consult a doctor, psychologist, or diet and nutrition specialist over their phones on video conferencing. The money will be put to use expanding the company’s team, marketing, and further development of products.
Doctor Insta is based in Gurgaon. It was founded earlier this year.
