Celebrate your weekend by celebrating where you live – that’s what these startups are doing. Home services, food, cars, and beauty have all picked up some funding toward the end of the work week. Kick back in the comfort of tech and check out these cool funding rounds and acquisitions that have gone down in India.
Wassup

Home services in India continue to consolidate. Today, laundry services startup Wassup acquired Hyderabad-based laundromat Ezeewash in an all-equity deal in its continuing search to expand across India.
Wassup, owned by Laundry Project India, will now be able to operate in Hyderabad and Secunderabad in addition to where it is already present: Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin and Pune. Founded by Durga Das and Balachandar R in 2012, it offers laundry, dry-cleaning, and shoe and bag refurbishment services.
Ravi Kumar Pinjala, founder and CEO of Ezeewash, will become vice president for Wassup’s AP and Telangana operations.
Petoo

Foodtech startup Petoo has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from Infosys co-founders SD Shibulal and Kris Gopalakrishnan in addition to three additional angel investors through Axilor Ventures, an early-stage startup investor. Former Infosys board member Srinath Batni, former Infosys head of strategy Ganapathy Venugopal, and Harvard Business School professor Tarun Khanna also participated in the round.
Petoo, run by Kinematic Foodtech, will use the funds for research and improvement. It plans to expand to two more cities. Possible candidates are Chennai, Hyderabad, Gurgaon and Pune.
Based in Bangalore, it was founded by Ritesh Dwivedy, Abhishek Mandal, and Kumar Setu in 2015. Ritesh was formerly the CEO of Just Eat India, which was acquired by Foodpanda in February last year.
