SG mental health startup extends series A to $20m

Intellect, a Singapore-headquartered mental health startup, has extended its series A funding round to a total of US$20 million after raising an additional US$10 million.

The extension was led by Tiger Global, with the participation of existing backers Insignia Ventures Partners and HOF Capital as well as new investors K3 Ventures and Singtel Innov8, among others. The additional funds also pushed the series A round to be the biggest raised by a mental health firm in Asia.

Launched in 2020, Intellect said that it serves more than 3 million people from over 60 countries. Its therapists and coaches are based in 20 countries, and its services support 15 languages.

The startup counts names such as Merck, Philips, Foodpanda, Singtel, and Shopee among its clients.

Intellect will be using the funds to expand across Asia, focusing on building the region’s first digitally enabled full-stack mental healthcare system.

“Intellect’s mission is to normalize mental health and shift the culture towards more open conversations about personal wellbeing, ultimately removing the stigma attached,” said Intellect co-founder and CEO Theodoric Chew in a statement.
