India’s economy grew by 7.9 percent in the first quarter of the year. It is the best performance in the last six quarters, according to TradingEconomics. This growth directly contributes to increasing purchasing power for its people – and that translates to more demand for consumer goods. It’s no wonder ecommerce represents a third of 15 startups presented in this report.
Logistics and transportation companies come second as the most represented vertical on the list. Furthermore, marketplaces and platforms are represented by four startups, of which each startup has a total funding amount of no less than US$100 million.
On the top of the hill, the trio of Flipkart, Snapdeal, and Ola show no sign of budging.
Let’s have a closer look at the top funded startups in India, according to the Tech in Asia database.
Note: We left out startups that have been acquired or had an IPO in the past few years. So this list includes only startups that are operating independently.
