Xpeng launches first supercharger station in Hong Kong

Xpeng has launched its first self-branded EV supercharging station in Hong Kong, marking its first expansion outside mainland China.

Located at Convention Square in Wan Chai, the station was developed in partnership with Malaysian car distributor Sime Darby.

It offers a charging speed of up to 360 KW, surpassing Tesla’s 250 KW superchargers in the city.

Brian Gu, Xpeng’s vice-chairman and president, said the initiative aims to bring ultra-fast charging technology to Hong Kong, already available in China. He also revealed plans to expand the supercharging network to Southeast Asia.

As EV adoption grows, manufacturers are focusing on advanced charging to address range anxiety, with China’s EV penetration rate surpassing 50% last year.
