US investors to offer more than $20b for TikTok
An American investor group, led by tech entrepreneur Jesse Tinsley, has raised over US$20 billion to acquire the United States operations of TikTok.
Notable backers include Roblox CEO David Baszucki and Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley.
The bid reportedly exceeds an alternative offer of US$20 billion, suggesting competitive market dynamics.
However, Tinsley noted that the group has yet to communicate directly with TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, which has maintained that TikTok’s US business is not for sale.
“We have not heard back directly,” Tinsley said, referring to the lack of response.
