Ex-Intel execs raise $21.5m for chip startup AheadComputing
Portland-based AheadComputing raised US$21.5 million in seed funding to develop RISC-V CPUs, led by Eclipse Ventures.
Founded by ex-Intel engineers, the startup aims to innovate using RISC-V, an open-source alternative to x86 and arm architectures.
Investors include Maverick Capital, Fundomo, and EPIQ Capital, with former Apple and Tesla chip architect Jim Keller also contributing.
CEO Debbie Marr said AheadComputing will address AI performance issues, focusing on bandwidth and data processing challenges.
