Google appeals US court ruling on app store verdict

Google has asked a United States appeals court to overturn a jury verdict and order changes to Google Play.

The legal conflict began with Epic Games’ 2020 lawsuit against Google.

Epic accused Google of anti-competitive actions in app distribution and payments on the Android platform.

In response to the jury’s findings, US District Judge James Donato ordered changes to Google Play in October.

The injunction, effective for three years, requires Google to allow rival app stores and make its app catalog open to competitors.

This order is paused pending the appeal.
