ByteDance denies claims of $12b AI investment plan
ByteDance has denied claims regarding plans to invest significantly in AI chip procurement and model training outside of China.
The Financial Times had reported that ByteDance intends to allocate 40 billion yuan (US$5.6 billion) towards AI chips by 2025.
Approximately US$6.8 billion was said to be earmarked for overseas investments, particularly for enhancing AI capabilities using Nvidia chips.
A ByteDance representative responded by stating that while the company focuses on AI investments, the reported figures and plans are incorrect.
The representative emphasized that the company’s investment strategy does not align with the numbers cited.
