ByteDance plans $614m AI center in China
ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok and Douyin, plans to invest 4.5 billion yuan (U$614 million) to establish a computing center in Datong, Shanxi province.
This facility aims to enhance the company’s AI operations.
The project, approved by the provincial government, will be managed by Volcano Cloud (Datong) Technology, a subsidiary of ByteDance.
The center will cover over 205,000 square meters, with six two-story data center buildings and a six-story integrated facility.
It will house 15,604 server cabinets and 510 network cabinets, designed to support AI operations like training large language models and processing large amounts of data.
