Apple shareholders vote to keep DEI initiatives

Apple shareholders have voted against a proposal to terminate the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives during the annual investor meeting on Feb. 25.

The proposal, submitted by the conservative National Center for Public Policy Research, urged Apple to discontinue its DEI programs.

Apple’s board advised shareholders to reject it, consistent with its stance on similar measures.

This decision comes as other tech companies reevaluate their DEI efforts due to changing social and legal contexts.

Meta has removed its DEI programs, Amazon has reduced certain initiatives, and Google has eliminated diversity hiring targets.

During the meeting, Apple CEO Tim Cook remarked that evolving legal frameworks might necessitate modifications to the company’s practices in the future, as reported by Reuters.
