Apple reveals iPhone 16e with AI features for $599
Apple has unveiled the iPhone 16e, a US$599 budget smartphone targeting mid-market consumers, especially in China and India.
The 16e features a 6.1-inch display, Face ID, and AI-powered functions via the A18 chip but lacks a wide-angle lens and advanced camera controls.
At US$200 less than the base model of the iPhone 16, the 16e retains key features such as a 48-megapixel camera with two lenses, including a zoom lens.
It also introduces Apple’s C1 chip, replacing Qualcomm modems.
With a USB-C port to meet EU regulations, the iPhone 16e repositions Apple in the budget segment.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e start Feb. 21, with shipments from Feb. 28.
