Apple has raised concerns over the European Union’s (EU) Digital Markets Act after the first known porn app for the iPhone appeared on the company’s device in the region.

The app, HotTub, launched on AltStore PAL, a third-party marketplace.

The developer claimed it was “Apple approved,” but Apple denied this, said it does not allow such content on its App Store.

Apple clarified that third-party apps are only checked for malware and compatibility, not content suitability.

The company warned that this could pose safety risks, especially for children.

Apple reported its concerns to the European Commission in December but has not received a response. It fears the regulation could undermine user trust and safety.

AltStore, which distributes third-party apps, is backed by Epic Games, a company known for its legal battles with Apple.

Epic Games has not commented on the issue.
