Amazon expands renewable energy with 476 MW purchase

Amazon has signed agreements to purchase 476 megawatts of renewable energy in the Iberian Peninsula from the multinational utility, Iberdrola.

The energy will come from wind and solar projects and is intended to support Amazon’s planned data centers in the region.

One renewable energy project includes the Tâmega wind farm in Portugal, which is being developed in conjunction with a hydroelectric dam system.

Amazon’s contracts also encompass energy from additional wind and solar installations in northwestern Spain.
