In brief: Zomato acquires $18m online catering marketplace

Online food-ordering and restaurant discovery platform Zomato has acquired TongueStun Food, a Bangalore-based startup which aggregates caterers and restaurants for office canteens.
Deepinder Goyal, co-founder and CEO, Zomato, [said his company] saw immense growth opportunity in the “food at workplace” segment.
The cash and stock deal reportedly values TongueStun at about US$18 million.
TongueStun will continue to operate as a separate entity post-acquisition. It covers six cities in India, with 1,000 curated food partners and 1,500 customer companies using its marketplace.
Zomato will use the platform to help its own restaurant partners to tap the potentially lucrative corporate catering market.
