Singapore-based Hypotenuse AI, a generative AI startup, has named former Scribd executive and Y Combinator alumni Rama Sadasivan as its first COO.

Sadasivan had been with Scribd for over nine years, most recently serving as the digital library’s vice president for global business operations. He also previously held leadership positions in The Wall Street Journal Digital as well as in US financial services firm SigFig.

At Hypotenuse, Sadasivan will spearhead the company’s efforts to scale its operations and revenue globally. The startup recently launched a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT in HypoChat, which offers features such as an onboard editor and link scraping capabilities.

Hypotenuse was founded in 2020 by Low Lin-Hui, a former Stripe executive, and Joshua Wong, who previously worked on machine learning research for Amazon Alexa. The company offers a platform for marketers, copywriters, and ecommerce companies to create AI-assisted content. It was part of YC Summer 2020 batch.
