Carzuno, Singapore-based car subscription startup announced that it has launched in Singapore and plans to expand across Southeast Asia in the near future.

The startup was founded in May 2021 by Amrt Sagar, a former Uber and Grab executive, and Andrew Chan, who has previously worked at Hertz and ComfortDelGro. Carzuno offers customers full-time use of a car of their choice on a monthly subscription basis.

It has a range of over 40 car models on offer, including Japanese hatchbacks, German SUVs (sports utility vehicles), and Italian sports cars. The monthly fee starts from S$1,350 (US$992) and covers the car, insurance, servicing, taxes, and a 24-hour breakdown service. Customers can also change their cars at the end of their subscription period to suit their evolving needs.

Subscribers can opt for plans that range from one to 24 months and have their car delivered to their doorsteps in less than 24 hours after a three-minute signup process, according to the company.

As per Deloitte’s 2021 global automotive consumer study, while 37% of Southeast Asian consumers preferred to commute by personal vehicles before the pandemic, that figure has now jumped to 52%.

Carzuno was founded to address this growing desire, particularly among millennials, expats, and corporate clients, to avoid long-term commitment and large upfront expenses required to finance the purchase of a car. Carzuno also claims to eliminate the uncertainty of negotiating with a car dealer.
