Smartphone launches are becoming like rock concerts in India. On Thursday, Xiaomi booked an indoor stadium in Delhi with a capacity of about 3,000 people to launch its latest offering, the Redmi Note 3.

The company put up one of India’s largest 4K resolution screens and distributed goodies dressed in its distinctive orange to its Indian users. It also invited startup CEOs such as OyoRooms founder CEO Ritesh Aggarwal and Foodpanda India head Saurabh Kochar to be a part of the launch.

Affordable smartphones are in huge demand in India, as the recent launch of the controversial US$4 smartphone signified. In India, only 300 million of its 900 million mobile users possess a smartphone.

However, the most interesting part of the Xiaomi launch was not at the stadium but on social media.

While Xiaomi executives were busy planning a mega event for the launch of their new phone, Asus was figuring out ways to make fun of it.

Asus started trolling Xiaomi on Twitter by launching an online game with the hashtag #MiMiBuster.

Asus started trolling Xiaomi with a new game called MiMiBuster. It distributed free phones to those who busted MiMi maximum in the game.
