Logistics startup Delhivery doubles down on Parcelled with $5M series A funding

Drvr - fleet management and logistics in Thailand

Door-to-door courier service Parcelled today raised a series A round of US$5 million. The round was led by Delhivery, an ecommerce logistics startup, and Tracxn Labs. The two also contributed an undisclosed amount toward Parcelled’s seed round.

Parcelled conducts end-to-end delivery of package shipping and tracks the entire process from pickup to delivery. It works mostly with small ecommerce businesses, ecommerce returns, and gifting.

The startup was started earlier this year by four ex-Flipkart employees: Xitij Kothi, Rikin Kachhia, Abhishek Srivastava, and Nikhil Bansal.

Delhivery provides ecommerce sites with end-to-end supply chain solutions. This marks its third strategic investment after putting money into hyperlocal delivery service Opinio last week. Their first was in 2013 in offline cash collection network Gharpay. Delhivery raised a gigantic series D round of US$85 million from the likes of Tiger Global, Nexus Venture Partners, and Times Internet Ltd in May.

In the logistics space, Delhivery has lots of competition. GoJavas is a similar end-to-end logistics startup that raised two rounds of funding from Indian ecommerce site Snapdeal. Its latest round was worth US$20 million. Another logistics supply chain startup, Ecom Express, announced earlier this year that it was raising US$133 million from Warburg Pincus.

RoadRunnr, another logistics startup started by two Flipkart execs, raised US$11 million from Sequoia Capital, Nexus Venture Partners, and Blume Ventures earlier this year. It is a service provider for hyperlocal logistics similar to Opinio.

Logistics in India is a tough game. What do you think a startup needs to do to win it?
