'We hope to someday beat SKT': an interview with Edward Gaming before the LPL playoffs

While most other leagues have moved on to the summer split, China’s LOL Pro League still has some action left in the spring season. The playoffs, which kick off later today (and which we’ll be streaming live in English). And on the eve of that tournament, China’s number two League of Legends team Edward Gaming sat down with Duowan for an interview.

The Duowan interview transcript isn’t particularly clear about which team member is giving which answer, but it sounds like many of the questions were handled by Clearlove, the team’s jungler. Here’s the interview:

Duowan: EDG did very well in the spring split. Clearlove, if you had to give your team a grade out of ten, what would it be.

EDG: I guess a 7.

The regular season is over. Who do you guys vote for as the MVP of the regular season on your team?

EDG: There’s no MVP, everyone performed pretty well.

The playoffs are coming and you’re up against WE in the semi-finals. Clearlove, as a former WE member, have you done anything special to prepare for this match?

EDG: No. I prepare my hardest for every single match, so if I just play like I normally do it’ll be fine.

Who do you think will win the other semifinal matchup between OMG and Invictus Gaming?

EDG: They are both very strong teams, and there are no easy opponents in the playoffs, so neither team winning would really be surprise. It’ll depend on who performs better when the time comes.

What was EDG up to during the break between the end of the spring split and the end of All-Star 2014? Did you follow All-Star at all?

EDG: Yes, like any other LOL fans, we did watch the Paris All-Star competition.

Many people feel things could have gone differently if EDG had gone to All-Star; what do you think would happen if you played SK Telecom T1 K

EDG: This year’s All-Star was decided according to the results of the spring split. OMG had a very excellent record in the spring split and they represented the current top skill level of the LPL. History has no hypotheticals, but we hope in the future we’ll have the chance to play against SKT and beat them.

The version you’ll be playing in the playoffs is different from the version the spring split was played on; have you prepared anything special?
