Gamers can vote for a new Monster Hunter Online monster at ChinaJoy

Going to game conventions can sometimes seem like more of a burden than a blessing. There’s the expensive hotels, the annoying travel, and then the convention itself: a big hot room full of sweaty nerds and long lines. But there are advantages. This year’s ChinaJoy will of course feature plenty of its typical selling point—booth babes—but for fans of the Monster Hunter series there will be another treat: the chance to help choose a new monster that’ll go into Monster Hunter Online.

According to Sina Games, ChinaJoy attendees will be able to vote for one of four new monsters, and the winning selection will be added to the game. The options are depicted in the image below:

From left to right (names translated from Chinese):

Stone dragon: a monster that hides partially underground, with only its rock-like back exposed, until its enemies get close enough to strike.

White speed dragon: a small bird-dragon that lives in snowy regions, has a leader called the white speed dragon king, and typically appears in large numbers to cause trouble for adventurers.

Horned dragon: a dragon with a massive horn on its nose that is normally dark red but will turn scarlet when the monster is angered.

Red speed dragon: another smaller monster that appears in numbers and has a king leader, but this one deals its damage by spitting poison, Jurassic Park-style.

So which of these guys would you vote for?
