Org Chart: The people leading GoTo Group (updated)

Charts and visuals, only for subscribers

Org Chart maps out the people at the top of Asia’s most prominent tech companies. Who are the key decision-makers? How are the teams organized? What does it tell us about the company’s priorities? We continue this series with Indonesian diversified company GoTo.

Update (June 20, 2022, 10 a.m.): This article was updated to reflect the new titles of Andre Soelistyo and Kevin Aluwi. We also added the board of commissioners and clarified several other roles within the group. Our previous GoTo org chart was published on April 4, 2022.

Gojek co-founder Kevin Aluwi is set to step down as CEO, a role that he held for over two years.

During his leadership, Aluwi helped the company achieve at least two milestones: the merger with Tokopedia that led to the formation of GoTo Group, and the new internet giant’s much-anticipated, billion-dollar IPO on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Andre Soelistyo, who leads GoTo and its financial arm GoTo Financial, will take over Aluwi’s executive role. The transition will occur after shareholders give their approval at the group’s annual general meeting on June 28. Before the merger, Soelistyo and Aluwi were co-CEOs of Gojek.

It is unclear if the transition is temporary or whether the group will appoint a new Gojek CEO. GoTo declined to comment on the move.

Aluwi will join GoTo’s board of commissioners, replacing Google veteran Caesar Sengupta. While Sengupta left to focus on his own company, Arbo Works, he will remain a commissioner at GoTo Financial.

Aluwi will also continue to work with Gojek’s electric-vehicle arm, Electrum, as commissioner. A joint venture between TBS Energi Utama and Gojek, Electrum is part of the ride-hailer’s strategy to reach its zero emission goal by 2030.

Here are a few more observations:

  • GoTo’s board of commissioners includes notable names such as Garibaldi “Boy” Thohir, the billionaire coal businessman and brother of Erick Thohir, who heads Indonesia’s Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. Wishnutama Kusubandio, who previously led the country’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, is also a GoTo commissioner.
  • Last year, Bank Jago appointed Sonny Christian Joseph as its business director, replacing Deddy Triyana. The firm also created a new directorial position for Umakanth Rama Pai.
  • Jonathan Barki quit as GoTo’s head of merchant financial services in March.
