My wife and I recently held our wedding banquet. The event went swimmingly and I was glad to see so many people who’ve played a special part in my life come together and enjoy themselves. In that sense, it almost felt like it was an occasion for them and not me, but in a good way.
I’ll tell you one thing I won’t miss, however: all the months of research and planning. Figuring out how much space we had, how many people we could invite, who to seat at which table, and a myriad of other things – I never liked Google Sheets to begin with, and now I’ve pretty much had my fill for life.
If only all those details could have been presented in a beautiful org chart, just like the one for Grab in today’s featured premium article.

The jokey segue I made above wasn’t solely for the laughs – it legitimately would’ve been really helpful to be able to visualize some of the guests, especially extended family members who I hadn’t seen in years or friends of my dad who I’d never met before. If nothing else, it would’ve helped our friends at reception out.
At least my guest list didn’t have to go through as many changes as Grab’s org chart seems to have in recent years. Here are some of the latest movements and highlights.
- Conflict of interest shenanigans: The Grab news that made the rounds recently was the initial appointment of Tin Pei Ling, a member of parliament in Singapore, to lead public affairs and policy in Grab Singapore. She’s since been moved to a corporate development role.
- Movements across the region: There have also been several shifts across the firm’s regional teams – Grab’s Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia units have all gotten new country leads.
- Digibank focus: The super app recently appointed Muthukrishnan Ramaswami, former president of the Singapore Exchange, as the group CEO of GXS, Grab’s digital bank launched in partnership with Singtel.
