1. C Channel | Japan (Techlist Profile)
Founded by former Line CEO Akira Morikawa, C Channel is a lifestyle service, curating information on fashion, hair style, make up, food, and travel target at women from age 20-34. The platform takes the current information curation boom and adds video.
2. Qingchifan | China (Techlist Profile)
Qingchifan is a dating app for meeting up with strangers for dinner dates which looks a lot like Momo. The location-based app for meeting strangers with similar interests is now China’s third-biggest mobile social network and has recently raised a series B round of funding led by Vertex Ventures, followed by Sequoia Capital.
3. Saykay.ph | Philippines
Available on the web and on mobile, Sakay.ph wants to be “the Google Maps or Waze for commuting,” and ease the burden of those who are endlessly tired and stressed navigating this urban jungle. It boasts of efficient and comprehensive directions for the metro. Not only that, it also compares routes by duration, number of stops, and cost, and even gives you suggestions on the best public transport system to take at a certain time – be it trains, buses, or jeepneys.
4. Zoctr | India (Techlist Profile)
Zoctr allows users to book an appointment with a doctor or diagnostic centre, call for an ambulance, get personal care attendants, digitise treatment procedures, buy drugs, and rent medical equipment for home care. The startup also trains doctors to provide supplementary treatment to patients suffering from neurology diseases, cancer, or cardiovascular disease.
5. Origami | Japan | (Techlist Profile)
Tokyo-based ecommerce startup Origami allows users to follow their favorite retailers, receive updates on new releases in a personalized feed, and ultimately purchase products in-app or in-store. At present, more than 800 brands feature and sell their wares on Origami. The startup announced a series B funding round led by SoftBank Group, Credit Saison, and angel investor Makoto Takano.
6. Purple Squirrel | India (Techlist Profile)
Purple Squirrel is a supplementary education provider which conducts practical and industry-driven educational initiatives such as facilitating industry visits, workshops, and hands-on training sessions for students across engineering, arts, sciences, and commerce. To date, the startup claims to have conducted over 8,000 such training sessions across 300 Indian companies.
