Unlock the secrets of Asia’s startup and tech leaders
Today, I’m excited to launch the next series in our new slate of Tech in Asia Original videos: Unlocked.
Our Unlocked series will showcase the best and brightest leaders from Asia’s tech and startup scene teaching us the core business strategies that have propelled them to success. You’ll hear from leading founders about how they built regional companies, VCs sharing their best investment tips and tricks, marketing leaders on how to hack growth, and more.
This series allows us to highlight a different aspect of Asia’s tech and startup scene: the people behind the stories. After all, what is any startup, investment, brand, or deal without the personalities driving it forward? Where did these leaders come from? How did they develop their skills set?
For each mini-series, expect to learn tangible business lessons from our featured industry leader and also be inspired by their stories of hardship, fortuitous opportunities, and resilience.
Unlocked: Chatri Sityodtong
To kick off our Unlocked series, we’re honored to have Chatri Sityodtong, the founder, chairman, and CEO of ONE Championship, who will teach us the ins and outs of building a billion-dollar brand.
These days, ONE is a nearly ubiquitous brand across Southeast Asia, known for its dramatic mixed martial arts events. With prominent investors such as Sequoia and Temasek Holdings, ONE claims to have had more than 5 billion platform video views in 2019, which fueled its expansion to exclusive streaming content, esports, and a forthcoming installment of The Apprentice franchise.
Despite the company going through some challenges and increased financial scrutiny in 2020, Chatri remains an undeniable driving force and branding mastermind. After all, few founders have been able to achieve the sheer brand awareness, massive number of eyeballs, and scale that he has achieved with ONE. Hear firsthand as he shares how he methodically built up ONE from just an idea to a billion-dollar brand, and how you can do the same for your own business.
To further peel back the layers of the ONE brand, Chatri will also share his inspiring personal story of developing resilience and grit. No founder’s or startup’s path is easy, and Chatri has had more than his fair share of challenges, from when he was growing up in Thailand to when he found success in Harvard, Silicon Valley, and Wall Street before eventually returning to Southeast Asia.
While the rest of the ONE story is yet to unfold, we already have much to learn from Chatri on how to build a billion-dollar brand.
We love telling these kinds of stories, and we hope you’ll feel as inspired as we do. Happy watching!
