- Legal firm Maurice Blackburn filed a class action against ride-hailing company Uber on behalf of about 6,000 taxi and chartered drivers, accusing the company of operating illegally in Australia and harming the drivers financially, Reuters reports.
- The damages being sought could be “in the hundreds of millions of dollars,” but would be determined as part of the case or settlement negotiations, said a spokesperson from the law firm.
- An Uber spokeswoman said the company had not been served a class action claim and denied that the company operated illegally in the country.
