In the last few years, taxi apps like Ola and TaxiForSure emerged. Then, they merged to take on global giant Uber which is a relatively late entrant in India but has strong VC muscle.
Though Ola may have the first mover advantage, Uber has close to six years of experience in battling out conditions that are very similar to the Indian market.
Interestingly, India’s population and shaky public transportation system make it large enough a market for multiple players. There doesn’t seem to be an easy, sure-fire way to predict the winner since both are in a deep regulatory muddle. Here’s a visual representation of how the two startups are squaring off.
