“Billion” is what Twitter’s looking at for the new year. According to Twitter Co-Founder, Biz Stone, Twitter would be ready to deliver “several billion tweets per hour to users around the world.” Also, it is expecting to serve “a billion search queries a day.”
Before you choke on the huge number presented, remember that Twitter used the word, “deliver”. That means, if you have 1000 followers and you sent out a tweet, that would be counted as 1000 tweets delivered.

With that, it is the number of search queries that I am actually concerned with. As this statistic increases, it reflects how much weight people are putting into other users’ opinion of a certain issue, event or brand.
