Truecaller rival Holaa adds a Hoodle to help you analyze your phone behavior

Homegrown Indian app Holaa is a caller identifier like Truecaller, which was developed in Sweden but is more popular in India than in the West. That’s because unknown calls and spam are a bigger problem in India, which has the highest percentage of prepaid mobile connections in the world.

When Holaa launched two months ago, Vikas Saxena, CEO of Nimbuzz, the company that developed the app, told Tech in Asia that it would be tailored to user behavior in emerging markets like India. Now it has come out with a feature called Hoodle, which allows users to track and analyze their phone behavior, to manage it better.

For example, it can give you a snapshot of who you call the most and for how long, in a given period. “You will get to know whether you are spending more time taking calls from your boss or speaking to your wife. We leave the final decision whether to change this behaviour to the user,” says a tongue-in-cheek statement from Holaa.

It can also track if your phone time is optimized for productivity. And it can even give you feedback on whether you are a good listener or a chatterbox. You can set reminders to call people. The overall aim is to help you lead a more disciplined calling lifestyle, just as a fitness tracker helps you to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

According to Nimbuzz, Holaa has gained significant traction in the six weeks since its formal launch, with six million searches for unknown calls made so far on the app.
